baka to testWhen life gets too overwhelming and stressful, sometimes you just need some nonsensical comedy to lighten your mood and brighten your day. It’s those times when you’ll do anything to smile or laugh when you need to watch a show like Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu. I was having a week like that and came across Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu on Netflix. Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu features a hilarious group of characters, an easy to follow story line, and adorable art. This anime will have you clicking the “next episode” button until you realize that you’ve finished the entire series.

Meet Akihisa Yoshii and welcome to his not-so-normal academy. His academy rigidly divides up the student body into classes based on the results of tests. The prodigies of the academy are placed into class A while Akihisa is placed into class F, the lowest ranked class in the entire academy. Not only is he placed in the lowest ranked class but he is also the dumbest kid in the academy. Akihisa and his friends are subjected to terrible conditions in their classroom because of their low test scores. Class A, however, have a much better classroom and are studying lavishly in comfort. Akihisa and his classmates realize that they no longer want to study in an uncomfortable classroom and decide to challenge the classes above them to obtain a better classroom environment and school supplies. How do they challenge the other classes? Well, with their summoners of course. Instead of taking placement tests in this academy, these students have the ability to challenge other students with their summoners or miniature avatars of themselves to battle. The avatars have points based on their test scores so ultimately, class F’s avatar’s are fairly low, however, class F has a secret weapon that gives them an advantage over the other classes.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu is a show that will keep you laughing until the very last episode. With quirky characters, dozens of anime clichés, cute art, and a silly story line; this is truly a show that will put you into a good mood.
