Anime of the week: Trinity Blood

Trinity Blood Anime

Trinity Blood began as a series of light novels, then became a manga series and short anime series. Is it worth watching the anime? Yes, and here’s why…

People that watch this anime will most likely immediately make comparisons to some other anime. My first thoughts were about Abel being very similar to Vash, at least personality wise. The only difference between the two seems to be during actual combat. Abel turns into super saiyan mode and gets all serious face, where Vash bumbles his way around in order to confuse and deceive his enemies. There are enough distinctions to allow Abel to develop into his own character. You can still make the comparisons but, for example, Vash and Abel are two very different characters.

Without spoiling too much of the story, there are constant tensions between the Terrans and methuselah(vampires). But there is also another type of creature in the mix, the Crusniks. You can research the back story before viewing the anime or you can be surprised as you go along, and come up with your own ideas.
As with any racial or species tensions there are elements within each that will desire peace, and there will be elements that desire the opposite. That’s the consistent background of this series, maintaining peace and balance between the methuselah and humans.

The story flows well in my opinion and you can grow to know the characters easily enough. Each has their own personality and brings their own light to the show.
