It’s almost time for summer! Most people are looking forward to going to the beach, spending time outdoors, sunny weather, and whatever else happens during that time of year that one can’t do the rest of the year. I’m originally a Floridian so “summer weather” is usually all year for me, however, now that I am in good ol’ Texas I am not looking forward to the baking oven that is San Antonio summers. This is the part where I complain about missing the humidity but I know that if I was back in Florida I would be complaining about the humidity. You always want what you can’t have! So what will people in Texas be doing to avoid baking this summer? I’d assume go to the pool, hang out at the river in San Antonio, and of course Schlitterbahn and Sea World! What will I be doing? Staying indoors under a fan that I will never turn off playing about twenty different games!
This summer, specifically the month of June, is going to be a great season for gaming. In June alone, Animal Crossing: New Leaf for the Nintendo 3DS and The Last of Us for the PS3 will hit the shelves. I will be picking up Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D at the end of this month and then in the beginning of June, The Last of Us and Animal Crossing: New Leaf one after the other (as they literally come out weeks after each other). Animal Crossing: New Leaf and The Last of Us are two games that gamers (especially myself) have been anxiously awaiting for as they continued to get their release dates pushed back over and over and finally the time is almost among us where we can all get our hands on these beauties! So you might be thinking… “okay so a couple of games in June, what else is so great about that month?” What else, you say? E3 Expo, of course! Between June 11th to the 13th in sunny Los Angeles, the world’s premier trade show for computer and video games and related products will be happening live where we will get some fantastic news from some of the biggest video game companies including Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony. Sony and Microsoft have been tooting about their next gen consoles these last few weeks and they have both confirmed that some information will be heading to E3 so we can all finally find out what’s to come. Some more anxiously awaited titles and also some great DLC will be coming this summer. Firefall, a new free-to-play open world action shooter developed by Red 5 Studios, will be starting open beta for players in July. Saints Row IV and Disney Infinity are both launching in August as well as Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. Also another remake of the classic series, The Bureau: X-COM Declassified will be hitting the shelves in August.
I have a feeling many gamers (like myself) won’t be venturing out all that much this summer unless it’s to buy some of these awesome titles. The graphics out there are great and all but the story line is such a bore!
